Description THE ROLE The Torrance Imaging Services Director
provides strategic leadership and business development, as well as
financial and operational management and direction for Diagnostic
Imaging Services. Accountable for developing, implementing and
managing a model of care and service that supports strategic goals
for the Torrance Imaging Services. Responsible for facilitating
quality improvement processes and implementing the necessary
components to achieve the desired outcomes in Torrance. The
director is responsible for managing the delivery of all medical
imaging and radiological services to patients. This position
requires expertise in developing long-range marketing and business
plans, developing and implementing growth strategies. ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
- Ensures safe, efficient, quality imaging services Torrance by
directing operations of the department. Establishes and maintains a
comprehensive program of diagnostic and therapeutic services by
preparation of long- and short-range goals and objectives and
development of standards.
- Ensures compliance with regional, organization-wide, and
department-specific policies and procedures.
- Maintains radiological services in accordance with standards
established by Hospital Administration, Chief Radiologist and State
regulations on a consistent basis.
- Ensures development and administration of the Quality
Improvement Program following standards established by the medical
staff and radiologists, which guarantees compliance to Joint
Commission standards and State and Federal regulatory and licensing
agencies. This is done by preparation of quarterly reports and
monitoring of quality screens, which document the quality control
of professional services. To standardize processes, facilitates
monthly meetings with management team to compare and discuss
services.
- Recommends appropriate action to Administration and Chief
Radiologists regarding equipment modifications and new equipment.
Ensures all equipment is maintained appropriately, annually
calibrated, regularly evaluated for functionality and that repair
costs are contained. Ongoing analysis of service contracts, time
and material agreements and in-house service is essential.
- Monitors and studies trends and developments in radiological
practices on a consistent basis to ensure best practices and
evidence-based improvements in clinical and operational processes
and outcomes.
- Collaborates with other departments in planning and
coordinating radiological services with patient care services.
- Directs budget preparation. Secures approval of, and monitors
budget for, appropriate utilization of resources.
- Regularly examines alternative methods of providing services to
reduce departmental costs. Participates in cost containment
activities through monitoring utilization of supplies, equipment,
registry and staff.
- Represents the ministries and the South Bay interests in
regional and system venues. Ensures/conducts ongoing analysis of
marketing opportunities for the department to include expansion
and/or modification of services. Preparation of brochures and
educational information for patients is essential to the provision
of professional patient care.
- Actively creates an environment of safe delivery of patient
care and functions with a constant awareness of safety issues
identified including correcting/reporting any unsafe conditions
found. Complies with incident reporting and Medical Safety Device
Act.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and compliance in
respect to patient care. Maintains complete confidentiality of all
patient and hospital related information.

the performance of work assignments and duties. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Healthcare Administration or
related health care field
- Master's Degree in Business Healthcare Administration or
related health care field (preferred)
- Upon hire: Greenbelt Certification, or equivalent performance
improvement certification (preferred)
- 5 years of hospital experience as a Radiologic Technologist or
other Imaging discipline
- 5 years of progressive hospital leadership experience
- Working knowledge of national healthcare trends,
multi-disciplinary professional practice models, reimbursement
principles, information systems, cost management, quality
management, and customer service needs
- Understand the needs and preferences of customers served and
manage efficiency and quality of Diagnostic Imaging Services
- Must have a solid financial background gained through both
operational and business planning experience
- Experience in developing strategic plans and initiatives
- Must use cognitive thinking skills, strong ability to lead and
facilitate multi-disciplinary groups, develop effective teams,
actively move succession plans forward and prioritize and organize
work in an accurate and timely manner
- Must possess strong presentation and interpersonal skills that
display a presence of leadership in a wide range of settings
- Demonstrated experience with multi-site integration of hospital
